In 2 weeks I fly to Manila in the Philippines to attend ROOTCON [1]. Like Samwise Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings, this will be the farthest from home that I will have ever been as it is half way around the world. You may remember this scene from LOTR. Consulting for me has been the start an adventure filled with highs and lows, and I want to stay on the path. Watch the video below and wait for Bilbo's quote at the end of it.
The conference will be in Tagaytay City near Taal Lake and an active volcano called the Taal Volcano.

[2] Going south of Manila to Tagaytay City
I am sponsoring part of the Car Hacking Village with Rustic Security and also giving a talk there titled "Blue Team Tricks - An overview of Automotive Defensive Engineering."

ROOTCON CHV [3]
My talk's overview:
Sun Tzu said, "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” This talk is for car hackers to learn about modern defense measures being added to ECUs and Vehicle Architectures.
Over the next 2 weeks I will be posting content for this talk based on the last 7 years in embedded cybersecurity. I hope to break down key concepts that I have learned in defending vehicles from cybersecurity attacks.
